About Local Fixer Pro

Local Fixer Pro is a free resource for homeowners who want to understand their heating, cooling and plumbing before they spend money on it. We build HVAC calculators, write plain-English repair and sizing guides, and research local service companies so you can make a better-informed decision.

Why we started

Most homeowners only think about their AC or furnace when it stops working, and that is exactly when it is hardest to make a calm decision. Sizing advice online is often a single rule of thumb, cost information is vague, and it is hard to tell which local companies are licensed and reliable. Local Fixer Pro was created to put the formulas, typical costs and the right questions to ask in one place.

What you will find here

  • HVAC calculators for load, AC tonnage, room BTU, mini split and furnace sizing, CFM, return grille size, Delta T, enthalpy and installation cost. Each one explains the formula it uses.
  • Homeowner guides that explain how systems work, how to size them and what to check before calling a technician.
  • Local service lists for HVAC repair and plumbing in selected US cities, with license information, service details and typical repair costs.

Who writes Local Fixer Pro

Local Fixer Pro is run by a small independent team. Articles are written and reviewed by Saksham and Sunita. We research each topic using manufacturer documentation, industry references such as ASHRAE and ACCA guidance, state licensing boards and publicly available business information, and we cite our sources at the end of each calculator page.

How we build our local lists

Companies in our city lists are chosen from public business listings and reviewed on experience, customer reviews, service area, emergency availability and licensing. Businesses cannot pay to be included or to change their position. Ratings, hours and prices change over time, so always confirm details directly with a company before booking.

Accuracy and corrections

Our calculators give estimates for planning, not final engineering results. For equipment sizing, a licensed contractor should perform a full Manual J load calculation for your home. If you spot an error, an outdated listing or a broken tool, please tell us and we will review and correct it.
